Escort rear discs conversion... Why machining for ABS sensors

Why does the Focus stub axles/hubs require machining to use the ABS sensors when fitted to a Escort ?

This conversion appears to use all parts from a Mk1 Focus, one with rear discs.

The focus rear axles etc share same bolt pattern as the Mk6 Escort rear beam, so I would assume the Focus parts just bolt to the rear beam, thus fitting in the very same order they would be on the Focus, complete with ABS sensors, so what requires machining ?

Why can't the Focus axles/hubs use their existing ABS sensors and connected to the Escorts ABS plugs ?

Answer to my own question,

The focus uses magnetic ABS reluctor rings.

The Escort uses toothed reluctor rings.

Toothed reluctor rings must be fitted to the rear of the Focus rear hubs,

otherwise the Escorts' ABS system won't read the magnetic rings.

Keep and use the Escort ABS sensors.

I believe the hole in the base of each Focus stub axle (for the Focus ABS sensors) require

drilling larger for Escort ABS sensors to fit.

My next question,

Can the magnetic reluctor rings be removed and the toothed rings fitted,

ideally without the need for machining; after all, removing one reluctor ring

only to be replaced with another and it looks like the rings are a push on fit ?

If 4 wheel ABS NOT fitted or ABS on the front wheels ONLY, then all the above with regard to ABS reluctor rings is NOT apparent.
