Drsarf
Hi all My heated front screen isn't working on my 96 escort. I've read that there is a relay under the bonnet which is what I'll check first. Can anyone supply any additional info regards to location and particularly access? Thanks in advance. Drsarf
its a big beastie by the battery in a little fuse box Thanks, does the battery have to come out? Looks like there's something behind the battery?? Cheers
JAMGTI
The heated screen relay is clipped to the plastic panel behind the battery, the fuse(50A) for the screen is in the aux fuse box mounted on the battery. the screen connections are on both sides near the bonnet hinges, check you have a supply here first before trying to remove relay. Drsarf
Thank for the info JAMGTI - managed to get to the relay.Well it's clicks nicely when the switch is turned on, so I'm assuming that means power is reaching the relay, but could it still mean the relay is potentially faulty? Thanks
JAMGTI
The relay coil is getting power via the switch which is why it's clicking. this doesn't mean there is a supply to the relay contacts or out of the relay to the screen. If you have access to a multimeter check the screen fuse and then for a supply at the plugs for the screen. If you have a supply at the screen plugs your screen is faulty, if no supply then possibly the relay/fuse
Drsarf
Thanks - new relay fitted, still not working. Multimeter should be here this week.
