Oil pressure switch removal

Hello all,

i have an oil pressure gauge to fit, well fitted this im just struggling to get the pressure switch off of the back of the block.

Deep socket is no good as there is a raised thread on the block which obstructs the socket from fitting on propery, a 24mm spanner is too big to get in the small gap left by everything fitted to the engine and im going to have to resort in getting a set of crow foot spanners to hopefully get it off.

What do the rest of you do to get this off while everything is fitted to the engine?

its a zetec-e (2000 Escort finesse) with plastic inlet.

the inlet is on the back of the engine and the pressure switch is not too far under this on the block.

will try and get a simular photo as i cant get under the car untill the weekend now.

what about an open ended spanner?
