simonh1
when you say transplant, are you putting a 1.8 in instaed of a 1.6 or taking it out for a 2.0 ??? Iv'e done the latter in mine, then engines are a straight swap, apart from:- 1) you need to keep your own flywheel and clutch.2) you need to keep your own the oil pump.3) you need to keep your own water pump.4) you need to keep your own flywheel sensor.5) you need to keep your own sump.6) all the stuff off your 1.8 block must be put on the 2.0. thats about it really mate going from a 1.8 to a 2.0 Edited September 8, 2003 by simonh1
Dunk
no i mean a swap from my cvh 1.4i to a 1.8 zetec. This means that I would just need everything out of the engine bay? right??? Still a straight swap though?
simonh1
No mate, going from a CVH to a Zetec requires alot of welding and fabrication of engine mounts etc. etc........best left to a Pro.
Dunk
u sure mate. looking at my mates 1.6i zetec everything looks like its in the same place. mounts wise anyway!
simonh1
Why not stick an RS Turbo lump in ????
muzzy
Wouldnt it be easyer to put a 1.8 cvh engine in than a zetec 1.8 in?
Dunk
Wouldnt it be easyer to put a 1.8 cvh engine in than a zetec 1.8 in? Why would I want another CVH Oilburner???? They're slow and drink fuel like there is no tomorrow!!!! Besides. The Zetec is meant to be a hell of a lot more reliable. And u cant hear the nasty tappets either!!!! I didnt look at the 1.8 but Im sure it aint far from similar!!! How much would it cost me to do the lot then??? If I got the mounts fabricated it wouldnt be too bad would it??? Or would buying a new car be a better idea??I dont wanna do that much. I like my car!
900ss
Sell yours n buy a 1.6 or1.8, thats got to be the cheapest way I would have thought Failing that given your options as yours is already a cvh - I would go for the S2 turbo in yours

John
dunkles i've gotta agree with wyn on this one really, the easiest way to get decent power that will pretty much drop in yours will be go for the s2 turbo engine. dropping a zetec into a motor designed for the cvh is gonna need a bit of work done plus these zetec motors aren't all that clever at times anyway! muzzy
Think ur best off getting a new motor and selling ur old one. Think thats the cheapest way to get power. buy a 1.8 zetec theres plenty of Good nick mk6s that are cheap out there. Thing with droping a s2 turbo engine is that most of them are nacked and finding a Good low milage engine will be very hard to find, plus a s2 turbo engine will probly cost u abit in petrol, alot in insurance and will be unreible. Another problem is if I was to sell my car I would get £300-£400 tops i reckon cus its so dented and scratched etc. Its far from imaculate!
