Cyberoid
I´ve just started restoring a classic racecar which uses a Ford Escort rear axle. As it got drumbrakes I would like to update it to a set of disc brakes instead. Problem is that I don´t know what kind of axle it is. I was told it is a Ford Escort RS2000 rear axle. But to find a suitable conversion kit I need to know some more. Can any one help me identify the axle and recommend a conversion kit for it, please? Ahmotorsport
Wouldn't matter if it was a Mk1 or Mk2 Escort axle, they would use the same conversion kit.

There seems to be some misleading info here. Would it help if I posted some numbers that are on the diff?

Easy Question for old fart like me lol Strip the axle, The half shafts will be the h/duty ones which are reduced in thickness at the spline end you will see them step down to enter the diff. The drums will be heavy cast version 9" drumsIt should have 4 lugs to mount the anti tramp bars on the top of the axle.Diff should have 3.54 ratio in it if RS2000 "same as 1600 ghia had", Sparkie
