Mk5 disk brake rear beam onto a mk6

Hello all maybe someone can shed some light I know rear beam questions are asked all the time so sorry for asking my one.

I have a mk6 gti with abs

And I have a mk5 rear disk beam that I would like to fit to my gti.

My question is how do I get round the abs problem. I believe the actuall beam will bolt straight onto the gti but mk5 rear beam dosent have abs

So can I make it work I don't want the abs light on all the time and would like to keep the abs and have it working as it should or is it possible to use my existing rear beam, remove the drums and fit the disks and calipers to it?

Any help would be great

Cheers, Tom

As your Escort has ABS; to pass a MOT test, with the mk5 rear beam fitted with no ABS, your current ABS will have to be fully operational, otherwise completely removed.

It is possible to fit the ABS to the rear drums of the Mk5 rear discs set up, but the stub axles etc will require precision machining to install the ABS sensors and also the rear of the hubs to fit the ABS reluctor rings.

Although I've not got round to doing this myself yet, it appears far easier to use a mk6 rear beam with rear drum brakes and remove the ABS drums and stub axles and replace with Focus stub axles/discs and calipers.

The rear of the Focus hubs will still require machining as the Escort reluctor ring is a different system to that used on the Focus.
