Finally got to the scrapyard today, picked up a black fabric power hood and all the gubbins to convert mine to powered, pump, rams, lines, loom etc and a 6000CD headunit, all for £45 plus vat

Going back in a couple of weeks, to get front and back bumpers, then need to order a litre of juice green to paint everything.

Need to put a new windscreen in, found a heated one at the scrapyard, but it does have a very small patch of white appearing at both sides.

Might get it and fit it anyway, then crack it and get a new one fitted through the insurance lol

There's an MG in the scrapyard with the splitter i want as well, but didn't have the time to get it today, there's also a decent black interior in there, so might grab that as well.

  • 4 weeks later...

Well, quick update, had a really busy month, so the escort went on the back burner.

Finally got to do some at work last night:

Indicators sorted (2 dodgy fuses, really fine hairline cracks in them)

Chrome grill and rear plate surround fitted

Wood trim fitted

Strut brace fitted

Electric window switch diagnosed as faulty

Vacuum leak sorted (90 deg elbow under coil pack)

Off to get some more bits tomorrow, hopefully get the black roof fitted tonight at work

Went and got a windscreen today, also picked up a 3 spoke puma steering wheel and airbag, wiring for white puma clock, wiring for 6 speed wipers (fitted the stalk but not working properly), a few spare window swithes and assorted relays. Not bad for £14

Off back on Tuesday for an MG splitter and anything else i can get my greedy mitts on lol

Got a set of 4 16" Cougar wheels coming next week, nearly new tyres, free of charge :D

Having a day on it tomorrow fitting the screen and the roof, so i'll get some picture of her as she is now, might even give her a clean

Does anyone know what the width measurement of springs for a Mk6?

Reason i'm asking, the scrapyard has a set of 4 brand new lowering springs sat on a shelf, he knows they're for a ford, but can't remember if its fiesta or escort!

If tey're the right ones, i can have them for £15

Will the front fog wiring already be in place or will i need to strip some out of a car?

Well, she failed the MOT earlier, 3 lights out (dodgy contacts, all cleaned and working now) and 2 rear brake pipes

Not too bad, better than some i've had recently lol

Got the pipe and fittings, going to do it over the weekend (3 x 12hr shifts from tomorrow morning) and retest at 4pm on Monday
