DanBrown93 Posted June 19, 2013 Share Posted June 19, 2013 I just got my first turbo car ('88 S2 RS Turbo) and I would like a few questions answered that I can't work out; My car is fitted with a hybrid T3. I know Garrett T3s are fitted to various cars but which specific model of T3 is it that Escorts use i.e. What's the specification code?If I decide to remove the dump valve for a bit of chatter, how much boost is safe to run back through a T3? Stu Posted June 20, 2013 Share Posted June 20, 2013 You can't get 'chatter' if it's running MFI. The stages vary between turbo builders, there's no consistency. In my mind a stage 1 is a standard turbo but with a larger .48 a/r turbine housing (standard is .36). Stage 2 and 3 then goes up in compressor trim size and also turbine housing. Standard compressor trim is 45. 4x4 cossie is 60 trim (not very nice), 2wd is either 50 or 55 trim, which is good for about 250bhp on an rs turbo.
