roboboyo
Hi guys My Dad has an ldv convoy, and he is experiencing a weird handbrake issue, when the handbrake is on, the van will not roll forward, but when positioned were the van may roll back, she starts to roll back, has anybody came across this, or can explain a fault that would cause this issue to occur cheers
Ahmotorsport
Could all be to do with weight. When it's facing forwards the weight is all being transferred to the front if you like, when it's backwards all that weight is being pushed onto the back, making it roll. demented
I assume the Convoy has rear drum brakes ? Would it be an issue with the leading and trailing brake shoes not operating correctly, thus when handbrake applied the leading shoes against the drums prevents foward roll/movement but the trailing shoes are not making sufficient contact with the drum to prevent rear roll/movement when brake shoe roles are switched. I assume it's possible for the leading shoes, due to frequent forward braking at higher speed than when reversing, wear quicker than the trailing shoe;, if so, its possible that the shoes have been swapped around to save money.
