Scotteh
quick question, how big r the standard components in an escort? gonna remove door holders to put some larger ones in as well but might as well utilise the standard space
M4TT
quick question, how big r the standard components in an escort? gonna remove door holders to put some larger ones in as well but might as well utilise the standard space 2 standard fronts ate 13cm, u can get 16.5cm adapeters to fit the 156mm components with i have, some people have put tweeters were the adjustment handle for the mirrors as well, but that only ig u have the aftermarket mirrors with no handles for the inside
simick1712
The standard door speakers are 130mm (5.25") methinks, and the rear speakers are 5" by 7". Although I assumed that when I bought a pair of JBL 130mm speakers for the front they'd fit straight in, but I had to mess about and cut away part of the standard bracket thing to make them fit. What my mate did was buy 6" speakers and buy the £20 brackets from Halfords, which then all just fit in nice and easy, which I'd have done if I had've known the 130mm ones wouldn't fit. So it really just depends on whether you wanna spend a bit extra and do that. Simon.

B19 JUB
head unit wise i've always loved kenwood stuff,so easy to usesub and amo wise it has to be rockford fosgate due to amazing power they can handle at so little resistancespeaker wise its alpine cos there components are so sweet to the ear unlike some makes which pierce your ear drums with the high end they produce
John
lower priced head units = sony higher priced head units = pioneer speakers = JL AUDIO, alpine or infinity and such just sound too top end to me but that is the jap market they built for......JL just sound spot on (not cheap though!) amps = Zapco, never again will i use anything else! subs = only ever used pioneer and have no reason to change. scotteh, if u are after quality and clarity then don't put 6x9s in there! they are just purely built to make noise! Scotteh
damn just read that article that sime posted in ICE websites section, didnt think it was that complicated lol. ah well think im def gonna get some JL 6x9s for now but ur right tiddles, the best wud be components, tweeters, decent subs etc but for now till i get my clifford fitted i dont wanna risk getting a nice set of comps and tweets (had my last stereo nicked ) and i can put 6x9s where current 6x7s sit with a little work.
