Dead audi.....

According to the speedo, he was doing 90 when he hit.

Do foreign cars have mph or kph in big letters on the speedo???

If it's KPH its about 55MPH. Musta swerved to avoid a rabbit or something

I worked for VW/Audi for about 8 years. Their cars break up just the same as any one elses in an accident. It's a common fallacy held by people that these and Volvos are stronger when there only actually safer. Chances are the geezer walked to the ambulance :thumb:

Very similar set up to that for the red Escort pictures 'doing the rounds' a few months back. I wonder.

Penny ;)

If they are faked it is an incredible job as all the pix are consistent with regard to positioning, lighting, and reflections. I'd be very surprised if it was, Penny.

Just a hoary old cynic – that’s me Cargy. It just seems strange there are no deep gouges in the soil around the site and no mud on the tyres. The bark stripped off the tree doesn't appear to have left damage to the under-part either and the door wrapped around the tree is so similar to previous Escort crash pictures.

MVC-040F.jpg Coincidentally, I'm a cynical old whore ;)

My impression is that the car hit the tree quite high, spun around as it impacted and split while still above ground. I agree about the lack of gouges - even given the apparent dryness of the soil.

The debris field is reasonably correct for this theory. I'm no expert, although I did spend a year or two recovering crashed vehicles for Keith Garages in Aylesbury and saw things that still give me nightmares.

I have looked for all the usual photoshop tell-tales, but I'm stumped on this. It doesn't quite feel right does it? There is no camera data in the image file header, suggesting that the image has had some sort of manipulation. but it may just have been enhanced for lighting etc

what a vehicle ;)

an old VW LT???? nice :D :D Bit different from all these tilt n slide lwb crew cabs of today!! :D  :thumb:

Without a doubt, it was quite possibly the worst vehicle I've ever driven!

Along with its recovery duties, we used to use it to pick up new cars from around the UK. The engine cover was so thin that, as soon as the revs went up, the cab was filled with engine noise. If you drove any distance (And I took her to Inverness on several occasions) you were guaranteed a headache of Homeric proportions. X(

The electrics fitted by the coachbuilders was all exposed underneath. When it was icy, the weight of the ice used to unplug alll the connections, leaving no rear lights! this happened to me a couple of times up Darlington way, and a more than once coming back down the M6 in the dark :vangry:

The engine drank oil like a wino drinks meths, the ventilation was shite and there was no power steering. The only good thing about it was the cab was roomy!

So, all that said, why do I still remember her with such fondness :D

:D :D cos u must have liked the job in some way :thumb:

i've driven a few really crap vehicles, mainly vans, 2 old Merc 308D's with the dogleg gearbox but the worst was an M reg one of these 308's that was a box van in black with one red side curtain and a silver rear roller shutter door n taillift X(

Used to crawl up hills at 45mph on Motorways n get blown off the road by lorries n any gust of wind or even if someone blew at it!!!! :D :D

I must apologise for dragging the thread off at a tangent!

I've had my share of crap drives in my time. The worst was possibly a Talbot Express Van that I drove round London for a while. The clutch was lower than your heel so you had to point your foot down to operate it. In heavy traffic it was a real painful experience.

Some of the old buses I've driven were bad, but not all: There were a couple of Alexander-bodied Volvos with fully automatic pushbutton gearboxes that were like driving a turbo-charged feather bed  Used to p1s5 the boy racers off no end when you beat them away at the lights and stayed ahead of them on the open road!
