Alloys Lowering

You shouldnt have a problem with fitting 17's on your escort i have them on mine only thing is for some reason i needed spacers, as for lowering and arches they wont need to be done unless you want to have it done. I will be having my escort lowered once the kit is on but it has nothing to do with the wheels fitting its just the arches still look to open as standard, even with 17inch wheels.

i am the same as jackster m8, i have 17's on with no problem at all, but they are peugeot fitment not ford!! :thumb: i am having it lowered by 35mm and it still shouldn't be a problem, can't say the same about the front bumper though!! ;(

THats the only worry i have when i lower the car is the front bumper is no doubt gonna suffer, especially where i live theres speed bumps. Fcuk knows how it will cope going up slopes in multi storey carparks.

I wouldnt get spacers just yet, get the wheels fitted drive around for a bit, test the steering on full if you here them rubbing then you need spacers, i had my wheels 2 weeks kept hearing the wheels catching so drove to kwikfit and asked them to check for me and ended up paying £200 for 2 new front tyres as they had been wearing and one wheel was catching on a bolt on the gearbox, so it was fcuked.

oh rite but lets face it not really anywhere you can go fast anyway lol without get pulled by the old 50's. and they will look really nice.  :P

True!!! 17's certainly do make all the difference to look at if you have had standard wheels on, I had already bought the wheels before i even had the car, lol. I have the tws razors at the mo, only thing is, as with most tsw wheels the rims stick out so have to be careful when parking near kerbs.

so will i need to get some spacers? to go on the shocks?

not if u get the correct offset :thumb:

also with the correct offset a 60mm slam won't cause u any bother at all, definitely if u don't carry loadsa ppl a lot or heavy loads in the back :thumb:

I lowered my car 40mm on 17'z and got no rubbing wotsoeva evan with 5ppl in the car. Didnt scrape on speed bumps either. ;)

I've now taken my 17'z off cos i found a set of mondeo Si 16" alloys that i've been after for ages and it sits a bit lower cos the wheels are slightly smaller and still my car doesnt scrape on speed bumps. Go -40mm and u'll have no worries matey! :thumb:
