I wouldn't bother with performance tyres on a family hatchback. I'd personally go for some AVONS ZV3's or ZZ1's. Excellent grip, wet or dry, bit too softa compound. mine lasted only 7000 miles, but i did really drive them hard. No need to be spending out £400 on tyres if you car is worth a little over that itself, its a silly investment. Harsh but unfortuately true.

dont matter what car u have, the better the tyre you have the safer your gonna feel imo

but most on here are lads like to drive different form the norm and yes there are family hatchs but that dont make them any different from another other hatch sports car, still gotta have good tyres if you no what ur on about and want to stand on the road driving hard or not imo

true words there , at the end of the day there the only thing between you and the tarmac so you might aswell buy decent tyres :thumb:

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback!

Think I will get the F1s, they seem a good buy.

It's gonna cost me £200 for the set, and at the end of the day, the tyres I have aren't really up to handling my kind of driving style. I don't drive fast in a straight line, that sorta thing doesn't excite me. Anyone can do it. I like to drive quickly in the corners, and I'm getting them down to a tee, and i'm getting quicker, but my current tires just can't cope. I'm gonna save up the money over the next few months to get the F1's. My current tires have a good 5-6mm grip on them, which is even after around 12,000 miles of usage (they've done about 7,000 on my escort and covered around 5,000 on my Fiesta). I'm guessing there's a good 10,000 miles left in them! despite how much they scrape across the tarmac when i'm cornering.

In the rain, they're scary. I was driving on the motorway in rain and fog on Thursday last week and it was scary. I wasn't hurrying, but i still managed to lock up a couple of times. I really need a tire that's good in wet and dry, and i wanna splash out on the alloys I have on my car just now (my summer alloys. I have Uniroyal rallye T tires on my winter alloys, they're a tried and tested make on my old car!).

I don't think £200 is a lot to spend on performance tires when budget ones can be £35 a piece. I'd rather spend the extra £15 a tire to be honest, wouldn't you agree?
