My Crash :(

i drive a 1998 escort td, which is my pride and joy!

i havent got any pics yet, as the car is with the garage the my insurance company is working with.

basically what happened is, i was on my way to bowlplex, and i was on a roundabout behind a lady.

i exited the roundabout at my exit, into the right hand line (loeading towards bowlplex) and this lady decides that she in the wrong lane and wants to cut into my lane.

at this point by the side of her in the right hand lane.

she cut across into my lane, crashing into my passenger door, leading all the way to my back bumper.

the garage gave my parents and the insurance company a quote of £1400 as i need; new front passenger door, new back passenger door, new back bumper, various dents taken out, new central locking system and a respray on the side.

i will not lose my no-claims as the insurance company belives that it was her fault by the damage on my, and the damage on her car.

her insurance company is also paying for my courtesy car, an '05 plate astra, but not the new shape?

i have got the car for 22 days @ £44 something a day, and works out as her insurance company is paying £1260 for the courtesy car.

i have heard from the garage that if the repairs cost more than the car is worth, the garage will try and do a contract repair usuing second-hand parts, which wont really make a difference as it will be sprayed anyway. if the insurance company refuses this too, they will write it off and give me £900, which i think is wrong.

i am really gutted by this, an will keep you updated on the progress.

good news on the courtesy car and they think it's her fault, and from the story that's a little obvious, blind spots eh...

as for if they write it off and give you £900, I think you'd be surprised what you can get for that escort wise these days but obviously repair would be preferable...

yeah, id much prefer it to be repaired

anyway, i just had a phonecall off the garage.

they said that the insurnace company's engineer has been and taken note of the damage etc, and has gone back to work out some figures.

the garage said they will have an answer by the end of the day!

so thats some good news, lol

all i gotta do is pay a £400 excess, which im not too pleased about, but at least im gettin my car back! should be done a week today!

when i have it back, it will also have had a whole body respray, not just the side.

at this moment in time, i couldnt be happier!

You will be able to claim your £400 excess back of her insurance company, as it wasn't your fault  :thumb:

how would i go about doing that?

apply for a claim form from the other persons insurance copmpany against their policy :thumb:
