16vescortowner
hi i own a 1.6 16v escort and have jus recently put a 1.8 throttle body on it. it has a decat and an induction kit aswell. now im findin flat spots when i change thru the gears which last about 1-2 secs after the gear change but then usally disapear as the revs increase. (now heres the strange part) i unpluged the air-flow sensor (after the induction filter) and it seems to cure the problem, but it runs a little rough when cold and doesnt idle quite right!! Any ideas?? do i have to change anything to run the 1.8 body?? thanks people
Muzz
When you unplug the MAF it causes the engine to run rich, so that is probably why it is rough and idles funny when it is cold. If you unplug it and it solves your problem, your best bet is to replace it. I have no idea if you might need the 1.8 MAF to go with the throttle bodies, someone else with a bit more knowledge than me will probably be able to tell you . 16vescortowner
yeah i have two 1.6 maf sensors and they both do the same thing
cosrep
The 1.8 TB is larger and therefore lets more air in so you'll be running slightly lean, usually you have to match TB and MAF but somtimes a ECU reset does the trick.
