MP3 Head Unit Recommendations

Stu

Recommended Posts

Right.. I'm looking for an MP3 head unit for the car.. It has to be black with zero or very little silver/grey/bling.. Preferably with a green display.. It has to take cd/cd-r's.. It has to support MP3's.. It can have an internal hd.. Any recommendations (with pics?)..

Cheers!

Cheers, i'll check them all out. Had a quick look on ebay for the mp3 one, but I think it's a focus one, and not the same fitting as for a mk6 escort?.. I'll probably use a normal iso player but make a dummy fascia from an original mk6 radio :)

I know there's one which looks identical to my Puma's stereo which is MP3, and I *think* that's the same fitment as a mk6. I'm not sure though cos my van never came with a stereo (ex police car) :thumb:

Out of interest, i've decided to buy an Alpine CDA-9851R.. Highly recommended from an installer friend of mine..

Some info:

Alpine CDA-9851R

Security: Detachable Facia

Power Output Per Channel: 50 W

Pre-amp Outputs: 3 sets

Pre-amp Output Voltage: 2 V

CD Changer Controls: Yes

MP3/WMA playback: Yes

Aux Input: Optional Cable

Digital music playback, system expansion options, and great looks, Alpine's CDA-9851R is a tough act to follow!

In addition to your standard CDs, it'll play MP3 and WMA files you've burned on a CD-R or CD-RW. Alpine's Quick Search feature helps you scroll through your folders and files quickly, so your favorite tunes will never be far away.

Alpine have also included Bass Engine® tone controls for sound shaping at its finest. Your music, no matter the format, will always sound spectacular. The powerful on-board amplifier delivers a solid 50W x 4 to power your music and for even more system punch, you can connect external amplifiers to the three sets of preamp outputs.
