Boot button

Hello as you's may know i have a mk6 escort.. in the middle next to the elec. window buttons, there is a button for popping the boot open.. but it doesnt work..

 

and the other day under the glove box i noticed there was a loose wire hangin out with a little yellow plastic box type thing on the end.. wondered if maybe its for that??

 

and how much of a pain is it to get it workin cause i have to take the keys out the ignition whenever i want to go open the boot

Might be worth mentioning, but the boot release doesn't work with the ignition on anyway (engine running)..

Try pulling out the boot switch and have a look if there is a wire under it or look what type of connection is on the switch.

 

See if that matches with the loose yellow wire.

 

If not, you need to try a few things, as it could be a faulty switch, faulty motor, loose connection.

 

See if you can find another car like yours in a scrapyard and have a look at the wiring and maybe get the switch and motor while you are there.
