Upside down subs

sure youve seen them with the voicecoils putting upwards instead of going in the enclosure

just wondering how this works out it looks quite smart if u get a sub that looks better from the rear

but do u get a good sound from it and what would u need to do to the enclosure to make it sound its best

It doesn't matter which way you run a sub, you just invert the phase if you have it like that (reverse the wiring). You'd be best to read up on different enclosure designs before doing something like this.

My last install had unturned subs, I did as said above and wired them in backwards to reverse the pushes and pulls of the cone. still made my spare wheel well vibrate like anything though!!!

 

The actual base produced was ideal though and it meant I could get away with slightly smaller boxes

Put the - on the + and the + on the -

did u have good bass with that install you did?

would this work just aswell in a hatchback?

cause ur not sealing it with a set air flow then ?

You're using the enclosure in exactly the same way, you're just saving some space by not having the sub inside the enclosure (eg, more free air space inside, which can let you run a smaller external box size).. You have to run the sub inverted so the cone goes the right way (think about it, the sub is now in backwards)..
