willira2003
the rear windscreen heater on my escort that ive just bought hasnt worked since i bought it, i know that to replace the whole windscreen is one solution, but that costs silly money, are there any other tricks i can try to get it working? such is unplugging such and such a wire then plugging it back in the car didnt come with the owners manuel and i havent gotten round to getting a haynes manuel yet so any thoughts would be lovely! David
Mine requently goes thru patches of 'Not Working' But its always along with the Rear wiper and Boot release. Think its a common fault, my mates Escort does the same, loose wirings my guess.
ploppy
try cleaning the contact on the bootlid and making sure that they are not damaged. if the whole windshield needs replacing, just try and source a whole new tailgate from the scrappy. if ur lucky it'll only set ya back a score. marsbar1973
I just purchased a new tailgate contact as mine is rather temperamental. Got it off ebay a couple of days ago. The centre pin kept getting stuck inside when opening the boot. Got it off a user called saorst for about £6 inc delivery. Does various bits. Used him before. It's not supposed to be stuck in. Mine was too far in and not making a proper contact, so after a minor attack with a pair of pliers it popped out! Hopefully fit it in a couple of days. Al_scort16i
i've replaced the pins on mine but it didn't fix the heater bit on the rear window. replaced the relay and all was ok for a couple of weeks, then it stopped again! the relay 'clicks' when i press the button on the dash so i presume that is ok, and there is continuity from one side of the window to the other so that's fine, but now i'm stuck!
