Muzz
Tried to fit my electric sunroof this afternoon, wired it in all fine and it is all OK apart from the motor. It will move a little bit and then make a horrible grinding noise, i have checked that there is 12v going through to it and there is, it sounds like there is not enough power being produced by the motor to move the roof, does it need replacing? theresa
It does sound like it needs replacing, as it won't be worth your effort trying to fix the motor. Get one from a scrappie to try - your best, easiest and cheapest option. Also, just check it's not getting stuck on the runners, etc., first, just in case there's something stopping the sunroof from moving back any further. Good luck
bluliz
just a quick thought. is the motor a stepper motor? as it it only goes so far each way then stops? did u take the motor out a car with an open sunroof and fit it to your with the roof closed? or other way round? or its knakered. I'll grab another one tomorrow hopefully .<{POST_SNAPBACK}>grab the handle from the manual winder, sling that back on and see how easy it is to open, if it gets slightly harder at any point give the runners a good greasing, the motors are really gutless and die as soon as they hit resistance, also make sure theres nothing else stopping the runners like grit or moss,
