Ignition barrel

Now i have a 2.0 mondeo non pats ecu installed, if i need to change my ignition barrel, can i just get any mk6 barrel and key and it will work?

 

obvoiusly before, i would have to get a barrel and then get the barrel key coded to the red key.. but now i assume i wont need to?

If you've got a non pats ecu you dont need to change the ignition barrel as the only pats part of the barrel is the black reciever that wrap's round the barrel itself and this can be removed by removing a small pozi screw, But if the pats etc has been disconeccted then there's no need to do anything and you should be able to use you old key and lock.
