try cleaning the lens with cotton bud and fluid.cd cleaners are crap.

normally there should be a drive belt from motor to cd spindle, either thats snapped or come off, sounds like thats your problem.

I think so too - will look at it at the weekend as its a fiddly job and need steady hands !

Opened it up at the weekend, the cd player is scrapped - there is a metal rod which fixes to the lens and motor, the rod is not there and the holder for the rod looks broken, as i brought this player from car boot and was assured it works - seems like ive beet taken for a ride as previous owner has attempted to open it up, taken the broken rod and belt out and then put it back togeter again to sell in the car boot!

 

i'll keep an eye out for another cd player which is up for grabs as scrap cos if i can get the parts out of it, i can still make this one work.
