not too much work... your kidding right?

He meant that he wanted to buy Stu's old GTi, which was 1.8 T :) Not too much work either...just show some proper quids, and voila you own a zetec turbo.

thought it involved skimming pistons and stronger head gaskets??

if i were to put in a 2.0 zetec... do i keep the loom i have or do i need an ECU off a 2l... also would i need to change the PATs and stuff?

There are guides at the top of the forum that describe step by step how to do the 2.0 conversion, ecu too.

rs2000 engine, a chip and filter and exhaust, egr removed and you'll have 170bhp!

bargain.

ive got engine for sale and exhaust but not chip.

better bhp per pound that any other conversion imo.

you can get 170bhp for about £700.

£400 engine

£75 ecu and loom

£100 chip

£25 filter

£100 exhaust

Sorry but the best way for him is to go for the 2.0 Zetec lump, as he got all the needed wiring in the car already. Just some ECU with non-PATS is required and a little re-wiring the pins.

zetec is easier but is also not that great for a stardard 2l engine when compared to the rs. the weight diference isnt as much as people really think either, i mean you make it sound like its the weight of a V8!

also they have better torque than zetecs, and its not the most common thing you see about either so if he wants to be different.....?
