Andy 3i
Are these somehow connected electronically? Basically I've got an epic misfire and my car is running on cylinders 1&2. I've changed plugs, leads, coil and recently injectors. I've got live and earth at the injectors, used a noid light and they are working (as far as the ecu side of things is going). I havent actually measured the compression with a tester...but with a plug out it you can hear it has compression (i'll get a tester from work to confirm next week). Basically I'm scratching my head as to what it could be. Part if me is thinking maybe a knock sensor (if zetecs have one) or maybe my edis module is messing around. Or possibly ecu as I've somewhat bypassed the edis? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Stu
No, they're not electrically linked. 1+4 and 2+3 are on the coilpack.
Andy 3i
I will try and get a compression test tomorrow . Stu, that's what I was thinking but I wanted to double check . I haven't checked if they're getting 3.5v running...but the noid light was flashing. It's really baffling me. What sort of compression should I expect from it? 12-14 bar? Andy 3i
I do hope it's nothing major internally...it's only done 800 miles since being rebuilt with new pistons, valves etc.
Stu
So it was working fine then started playing up? What changed? Under what conditions does it misfire? No knock sensor BTW.
Andy 3i
Yeah, was working perfect then on my way home I was pottering at about 20-25 and it just all of a sudden started missing. The only thing I changed was put new number plates on and I put the passenger side inner kick panel on because its been off for ages. It's a constant misfire, doesn't go away at all. I'll try and get a tester on it today to check compression but if that comes back a-ok then I don't know what the hell has gone wrong
Stu
IIRC part of the loom goes through the passenger inner arch. Is it possible you've disturbed something?
Andy 3i
Yeah, I've run the wires from the edis module inside the wheel arch. I did double check the wiring to the ecu to make sure no wires were trapped or anything...everything looked ok. Even if the wiring was duff the noid lights wouldn't go off and have spark at the plugs. Baffling
Stu
Not entirely true. If you lose one of the EDIS wires the timing will be locked at 10 degrees advance, but that probably wouldn't make it misfire badly, just be down on power and sound muffled. Andy 3i
Just checked compression...210, 240, 20, 25 psi 1-4. Head will be off within a few hours
