Colin
Should get a simple answer here I think. The 2002 van has digital millage/trip/dials fitted into it, but they dont have a tacho, just a sexy van picture, lol. If I bought some fiesta/puma dials etc, would I need to preform any rewering at allan if so what? Thanks folks.

Thanks folks.I presume the wiring is the same, the dials are the same as the fiesta/puma ones with exception of the tacho. You may have to run a wire for the tacho to work, but you won't know that until you try them
trickydicky
No wiring - I used white petrol digi dials in my 2001 TD Van and they worked fine.

DaweV6
All escorts with digi dials already have wiring for rev counter. Simple proof lies in the diagnostic test - Self Diagnostics Mode The Self Diagnostics Mode gives you in-depth information about your engine and the actual numbers in digital. To use it, follow the steps: * Insert Key but do not turn it on* Press and hold the Trip Meter Reset Button* While holding the reset button, start your car and continue holding the button* Within 10 seconds, the display should change to "test" in LCD font and the needles will do a full sweeping. Release the Button Pressing the button will now cycle through some 17 different modes * 1.Shows a Gauge Sweep* 2. Shows all 8's on the LCD (LCD TEST)* 3. Illuminates all the bulbs on the dash* 4. Displays hexadecimal value for ROM level* 5. Displays the hexadecimal value for EE level* 6. Shows DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code)* 7. Digital Speedometer - mph* 8. Digital Speedometer - kph* 9. N/A* 10. Digital tachometer* 11.Fuel volume* 12. Engine coolant temperature* 13. Battery voltage* 14. ABS fail* 15. Electronic brake distribution (EBD) failure* 16. Illumination* 17. VanMan_Jas
All escorts with digi dials already have wiring for rev counter. Simple proof lies in the diagnostic test -Dragging up an old thread here, searching for info on wiring up the tacho on a td with digi dials as standard. My van (2001) has digi dials as standard, but no rev counter. The digital tachometer does not show a reading. I need to run a wire, and im pretty sure it will come from the ecu rather than the alternator. Does anyone know what pin on the ecu gives the tacho signal on the endura td engine? And which pin on the pack of the instrument panel (digi dials, one connector block). ThanksJas

VanMan_Jas
You may find the info you need here: http://www.rsownersclub.co.uk/rsocbb/showthread.php?t=200187Thanks. So pin 21 for tacho on the instrument cluster. The van has EEC V, 'SKIP' ECU, 104 pin.Im struggling to find pin outs for the ECU. Auto data doesn't list for this ECU. Just need to find the pin on ecu for tacho signal, or figure out how to determine which one is the tacho? VanMan_Jas
http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...showtopic=85816I've already read that thread. For early models that don't already have digi dials, the tacho feed comes from the alternator. On later models already fitted with digi dials from the factory, the feed comes from the ECU.I just need to determine which pin on the ECU. On some models, the feed is already in place but on mine its not.Jas
