bladebeatereater
i bought my 18"s very cheap had them refurbed (very expensive) so had no money for tyres so bought a set of "FULLRUN TYRES" off of eBay for £140 they are bad when i had a diesel engine in my van but they are just plain dangerous now i'm running a zetec, I was thinking of buying someTOYO PROXES PX4E http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2x-Toyo-Proxes-PX4E-...A1%7C240%3A1318 or FEDERAL SS595 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FEDERAL-SS595-215-35...A1%7C240%3A1318 what you running and what they like
Tez162003
I run 18s 7.5J alloys i use 18/215/40 tyres, but i also have wide arches. mine rub slightly on half lock and past that is fine, if i were you id say 18/215/35 the lower profile side wall should help against rubbing, possibly even 18/205/35 if you dont mind a tiny bit of stretch look on your tyres, (thats all based on a 7.5J rim)

Tez162003
Size is an issue, if you get 40profile on a wrong eta rim it will catch. Yeah you can get grip on 18s but your acceleration willbe hugely effected that's why most get 16s or 17s
Stu
The reason to go down in size isn't primarily to do with acceleration, it's to do with being able to run a much more sensible tyre profile (taller sidewall). 35 profile rubber ain't giving you much traction on a typical british road.. try and stick to 45 or greater to be safe.
