Apnea
Yeah as I said, when i pulled up to my house after driving about 20miles. I noticed smoke coming from my engine, popped the hood and looked and noticed a really strong smell of diesel and liquid all over the engine, looks like its coming from one of the cylinders (number 4) where the plug thingy goes into the engine, would could this be? Im scared to drive my van now as it may catch fire.
escortlew
I swear diesel doesnt go on fire unless its at a certain heat or somet? I'd just check it over make sure everything is connected properly etc
Apnea
It doesnt, it has to be really hot. But its the point of it. Its deffo coming from cylinder 4 where the plug goes in the head (or whatever its called on a diesel) ((fcukin' things))
escort4x4
id get someone to look at it mate, if it smells of diesel then there is a gd chance a pipe has split or injector seal has gone, dont drive it as it can cause a fire
bart_si_16v
if you think its leaking from around the glow plug y not take it out and check theres no crack or anything then pop the plug back in and make sure its all done up properly then jus check all the fuel pipes
hicksy
I rekon its low tyre pressures Sorry is it comming from the top or bottom of the injector or the glow plug?
Andy 3i
Have you cracked an injector off recently to bleed it?
marty1979
Yeah, sounds like the union on one of the injectors is leaking.
Apnea
Well, funny story guys, apart from loosing about £15's worth of diesel in two days from severe leaking. After returning to my van earlier and noticed a huge pile of diesel, I raced back with even more diesel over the hot engine. And went to a local garage, where the replaced something. I only had £40 in my bank for the next two weeks... turns out it was only a £1 piece of rubber that sits on the 4th cyclinder injector "return" or something, lol. So its sorted now, it no longer leaks.
