eetaylog
just get down the scrappy. i picked one up for under a fiver when my old one leaked, then you can just swap them over without having to drain it.
cherrybeard
If its leaking from the hose that goes into the top of the reservoir, do as you said you are going to do (i think?!) and cut off a very small amount and rejoin preferably with a jubilee hose clip or similar. Mine leaked almost 2 years ago, ford wanted about £60 for a new hose (nobs) so i cut it and it hasnt leaked since. Make sure the cut is nice and straight!
