mcflycossie
Ok, where do I start with this. To cut a long story short I went to have a look at a Magnex exhaust system and ended up buying the whole car. The car is a 1993 K-reg with 64k genuine miles. Car has had one previous owner from new and has been a former RS Owners club memeber. Previous owner has owned it for 9 years and prior to that it was a company car. The underneath of this car is mint. No rust or holes on any of the chassis rails. The car is a non-runner as the chain snaped. When I went to view it the chap was breaking it for parts and had alread sold the bonnet and boot. Car when I went to see it. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Holiday2020.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Holiday2013.jpg There is the usual rust spots like arches and petrol cap filler section. The paint was really grubby and the interior was filthy but I knew there was a good little motor underneath, so I took the punt and bought it. Collection Day It was wii it with rain. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image065.jpg Built in pond http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image068.jpg When I got it home I completley stripped it and to be honest I was really suprised how clean the car was. Bits that will need sorting. Arches http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Holiday2015.jpg Petrol Cap section http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Holiday2016.jpg Knock on rear quarter http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Holiday2014.jpg A-Pillar http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image088.jpg Floor Section http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image087.jpg Poorly Wing mirror http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image091.jpg Snaped Chain http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image089.jpg I know it seems alot of work but the car is very good nick underneath so I though she was worth saving from the breakers.. More updates to follow..... After the interior was all stripped out it left me with a very nice clean floor. Only the one pieve of rust which I showed earlier. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image074.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image073.jpg I needed a bonnet and boot ASAP so bought the first ones I could get. Won a bonnet on ebay for bargin 16 in black and a Red tailgate from CSPares. Left the car like this.. LOL http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image082.jpg Looking good I hear u say... I decided that the best thing to do first was get the engine out to access the damage so I took the head off to find that the chain snap had only damaged two valves so the chain must have gone once on idle which was a bit of a result. The piston dont seem to have any damage either. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image101.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image103.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image104.jpg Luckily for me I have a complete head in my garage so will probably be using that. Rest of the engine will be coming out for a rebuild as soon as I get a engine stand sorted. I also decided to T-Cut one side of the car to see what the paint was like under all the grubbyness and she come up a treat. Before http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image076-1.jpg After http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image077.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image090.jpg All the body panels are straight on this car. No dings or anything. I have also purchased a few additional items. New Grill http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/ae51_1.jpg Stut Brace http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/019.jpg New car cover.. looks like Shrek http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image109.jpg Big Brother watching over her http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image084.jpg

mcflycossie
Cleaned up the engine bay a little. Come up quite well considering it was smother in oil everywhere. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image143.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image144.jpg Still need to get the rest of the engine and gearbox out but im waiting for my engine stand to be delivered. engine bay will then (probably) be sprayed. Plans are a white plentium, white rocker with blue hoses, and all new bottles. May also spray the brake res white (undecided). Cleaned up the rear end. Was pretty mint to be honest. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image146.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image141.jpg Tried on one of its new shoes. You can alos see the difference in the front panel which I had t-cut compaired to the rear. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image142.jpg White bonnet now http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image145.jpg White Boot and new rear bumper http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image149.jpg I then decided to remove the black strips. Considering they had been on there for 16 years they came off ok. Alot of rubbing though to get that glue off. I think it looks better. I also removed the red pin stripe. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image158.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image163.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image162.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image159.jpg Paintwork has come up really well so far considering the state it was in when I got it. Found a little more rust. So sills will ne doing I reckon http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/Image161.jpg Got some nice new rear lights. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/BNNLI-Q2kKGrHgoH-DoEjlLlzR4BJob9MsD.jpg Thats about it for now. Started to clean the inside out but no pics at the moment. Been picking up bits and pieces for the engine rebuild so will crack on with that as soon as the engine stand arrives. Will be painting the block blue, gearbox silver.
