Gage
Hi Guys, basically I need a new waterpump, cambelt and Clutch fitted to my car. I know that if the cambelt is fitted incorrectly that it can destroy the engine. So I have been recommended to do a swap for an 1.8engine as the loom etc is the same. its just a straight out then in job. Then do the clutch whilst the engine is out. I was hoping for some good guidance on what to do. And best ways to do the waterpump and clutch if its nessasary. Cheers Lee
Danny1107
its advisable to put new waterpump and cambelt kit on the new engine as you dont know the history of it, might aswell do a 2l swap, its pretty much a straight swap, just need afew bits off the 1.6/1.8 (oil pump, oil pick up, sump) i think thats all you need from the 1.6/1.8, if someone else can confirm this? Gage
been told the 2.0l is a good way to go, but don't want to go to crazy, just woundered if it was an easy swap for the 1.

scottg17
Your probly going to need to change a cambelt anyway if you get a new engine. Its a bit like taking morphene to cure a headache changing an engine for your reasons lol.
Gage
ok so if thats pointless, do I need to drop the engine down to get access to the clutch? Or can I drop the transmission from the engine without dropping the whole lot?

charlie74
its not that pointless,, just that the jobs are soooooo much easier while the engine is out of the car,, makes sence to do them before putting the engine back in,, at least then you know when and what you have/need to do in the future.. at least this way your doing the same jobs, but might end up with a lower mileage engine and a better drive

Gage
Just found out today whilst the car was parked at a funny angle that my front tyre has worn on the inside edge. I only had the tyre and tracking done 4 months ago. I took it bak to them today, and turns out my lower arm and bushes need replacing, along with 2 new tyres.............I can't be bothered with it any more, I'm scrapping it, simple as.
