dutchkev
ive looked into these, and tbh unless you know what your doing there a waste of money, good chance you dont know what your looking at/for and will stillbe in the same mess, but £50 lighter, might as well take it to ford and get it done right once
SteveB
ive looked into these, and tbh unless you know what your doing there a waste of money, good chance you dont know what your looking at/for and will stillbe in the same mess, but £50 lighter, might as well take it to ford and get it done right once All but the X plate Escorts use the EEC-IV ECU. X plate Escorts use the EEC-V ECU and are OBD-II compliant. Cars up to 1995 have a Star Code connector in the engine bay, and you can fault code read these with a multimeter or LED. Cars from 1995 have a 16 pin OBD-II style connector in the passenger footwell, but they are not OBD-II compliant they are OBD-I using Ford's own communication language. Tomin
so which one do i need for escort 1.6 LX 1999If your car has EEC IV (pins 3 and 11 in OBD connector), you can not use any cable with ELM chips. What I know, only ForDiag cable supports EEC IV.ForDiag supports OBDI special Ford diagnostic protocol, called Ford DCL (data communication link). Here is the photo of OBD connector in Escort with EEC IV.https://www.scantool.net/forum/index.php?topic=995.
