KNITERIDER
what scorted said. dont waist your time trying to do things on the cheap, at least not on these engines as you wont see many if any gains at all maybe loss's and a sore wallet.
mk6 cozzy
so if i put the 130 cams in my 1.8 il will get the 130bhp ish?or will it not go up at all?
ScORTED
just for the sake of clarity, the cams alone may give you another 10% right at the top end of the rev range, but in doing so will move knock a fair bit out of the low down torque. how often do you actually drive with the car in the "power band" anyway, most of the the time your using the low end torque to accelerate so the subsequent greater loss of torque will actually make the car slower in the real world

bullsrs
so let me get this right im new to the zetec world lol if i put the 130 2.0l cams in my 1.8 with throttle body n what not will i still get 130bhp??? if i decide to put the to 2.0l in can i run with a 1.8 ecu????2.0 wont run on a 1.8 ecu. i was going to use 1.8 130PS cams on my 115 engine with 2.0 throttle body (same port size as the 130 1.8's but for SEFI inlet not EFI). you would possibly want to run a superchip upgrade on that option though as the difference between the 130 and 105 (these were the 2 variants of 1.8 at the time) is cams, throttle body and ECU IIRCchanged my mind though as a better induction kit has freed mine up nicely (have those for sale btw) good forced cold air induction kit, free breathing exhaust (pref de-cat), quality service and possbily the cams and throttle i suggested will see you at 130-135 estimate (mine dynoed at 126.9 with good induction kit, ual core HT leads and new plugs - might do more with a less restrictive exhaust)The first mk6 si i had i converted to a 2ltr silver top and it ran no problem with 1.8 ecu, and it was bought from a salvage auction with flood damage, the only minor running problem was that forgot to fit one of the breather pipes on the inlet and it would cut out when stationary
bullsrs
if you only want the car quicker for rwyb then just strip it out, lighter weight to pull means quicker acceleration, could also make up some droop limiters, for the front shockers which restricts how high the front end rises when accelerating hard and keeps the weight of the car more to the front, meaning less chance of wheelspin as the weight wont shift as much to the rear when you pull away, sitech racings s2rst had these, made from clamps and steel cable, not very pretty but very effectiveCould also look into a gearbox from a smaller engined escort as they may give better mid range acceleration, i know my old rst went loads better mid range when the lsd blew, and i fitted the box out of my 1.1 fiesta although i wasn`t getting the same speeds out of each gear, just had to change up/down quickerhope this is of some use to you
