Posted June 1, 201014 yr I have just bought 4 x 14" Mondeo Mk2 steel wheels, 2 with Sava Intensa tires and 2 with Nexen CP641. All the tires are 185x65x 14 H rated. The van still has the original 13" 165x65s on. The existing gap between the rear tires and the bodywork is only just enough to get a little finger between so I am concerned that the 185s will rub. Anyone any experience of fitting these?I hope they do fit because the tires are hardly worn and both types get mixed reviews but mainly good. One thing I did check was the load rating seeing as its still a working van, the loading on the existing van rated tires is about 1047 lbs and the Mondeo tires are all rated at least 100lbs more, so thats ok.
June 1, 201014 yr I cant see any problems with mondeo wheels of that size. What is the offset of them?
June 1, 201014 yr Author Offset? Not sure, Just bog standard steelies though, but look a bit deeper dished than the Escort ones........
June 3, 201014 yr i could have told you that:http://i0.tagstat.com/image03/8/520f/001j001O58f.jpg was gonna sell the pair for a tenner but they always seem to come in handy as rolling spares. just got to get one more once i get my spare wheel out and i'll have full set whilst i do more tidying up of my alloys
June 3, 201014 yr Author The van actually seems to handle much better with the than the standard wheels and van specific tyres/ The Mondeo tyres have greater load rating so I assume stiffer didewa;;s. Plus they fill the arches better.
