cheers badass

A little update on the Escort, removed n/s/r shock absorber from the car removed the spring and removed all the rust from shock then went about removing the red plastic from the spax springs and i had forgot what a b..tard it was to get of the fronts even nitromores struggled the had to flat all the corrosion from where the plastic had flaked (think ill be investing in a sand blaster lol) then primered, painted, and laquered all the parts and when dry putting back together. The brake drum was the usual git to remove as it had worn a lip around the edge and didnt want to come of but with the aid of a prybar and brummie screwdriver (HAMMER) it give in and come of, I then groung the lip off and de-glazed the face will be doing the same to the other side when i strip it then I can adjust the brakes properly so the handbrake lever dosnt come up to my armpits. I might drop the rear beam out and clean that up but we will see, I then cleaned the drum and flatted it until it was like new then set about it with primer, yellow paint (I love yellow) and laquer. Now im going to start on the alloy wheel. I have painted the plastic scuttle panel that is between the windscreen and bonnet but iv forgot to photograph it so ill save that for the next update. the Merc project is only days away from completion had a few issues with the rebuild such as the drivers seat being broken, the front bumper would not fit properly and decided to make splash gaurds for the wheel arches, not standard equipment but might stop the wings rusting for a bit longer, will take more photos of Merc tomorow as the ones i took today are rubbish (Im crap with cameras anyway)

Thanks for looking.

Well, the merc was collected on tuesday and the next one was dropped off, just some electrical and mechanical issues to be done until he takes the car of the road for the winter

http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25543.jpg

anyway while im waiting for the alternator to be rebuilt I decided it was about time i done some work on the escort so in between refurbing the alloy i decided to tidy up the chassis leg that had some plates welded onto the leg but looked ugly so with a bit of grinding primer and stone chip

http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25544.jpg

then i thought id put the rear cosworth spoiler on

and here is a pic of the scuttle that i repainted

http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25547.jpg

now got to finish the wheel and cut the hedge by the looks of it.

Well looks like im still going to be working at Perfection for a while probebly go back in the office when the winter digs in a bit more, enjoying myself to much at the moment.

more updates as they happen.

thanks for looking.

Looks good so far Ted, I'm not sure on the yellow drums tho is say paint them black, I will reserve judgment until I see the whole car tho :)

Cheers for the comment Scott, because i am usually restoring old cars and hsving to make them look standard i bought the escort so i could do something different to the norm, iv allways liked the yellow and blue theme as on some suberu cars so thought id have a go on this, i like to do things a bit different accasionly if you saw my hair you would know what i mean lol, most people who see the car quit like it allthough not to everyones taste but we are all different (thank God).

Thanks for taking the time to leave your comment and we will see what you think when its finished. cheers Ted

what are perfection motors like for price, i'll need my arches re done at some point, but want some where which will do a good job and look after the car but don't cost the earth.

I've yet to find a good body shop in Birmingham!

They are very good at what they do, thats why they do all the paint for brums merc dealers, pricing reflects the job. best thing to do is go see them and tell them your part of this site and they will look after you bacause they do realise that your car is your pride and joy, everyone i know personally uses them and these are very fussy people with very expensive cars. if you want me to speak to them on your behalf and arrange for you to go see them pm me your number and ill give you a ring, cheers Ted

Cheers Scott, well even if its not everyones taste it will have improved the car just by being cleaner, but will give people something to look at and comment on.
