ted
Imo any love shown to a car is better than no love, but not everyone wants to do more than drive them but then do they have the right to criticise what someone else does.
ted
Little update on the merc rebuild.Having a little trouble getting the grill to fit new front panel (and i use the term new loosly as panel had been in a damp barn for ten years) now a new grill if you can find one costs in exess of £6000 with no gaurentee that it will fit either so having had this grill completely rebuilt at an extortionate cost we have decided that we will have to make changes to the front panel not ideal after the repaint but needs must, now before you ask why it wasnt tried before painting, because this build came about due to it having a front end crash we could only take a rought patern of the grill surround, when this was sent away and straightened and re-welded then chromed it came back a totally different shape, now we could of waited for it to come back before fitting and shaping the front panel but with an estimated time of 3 months plus for the chromework to be repaired and chromed (thats after it took 2 months to source and collect all the parts that were needed) we decided to take the chance so now we have a few days work to do to alter the panel. any way while the body lads are doing the front I have put the dash back together (and I never want to take it out again) it been a complete b...stard. but here a some pics of it before and after. http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25243.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25244.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25245.jpg On the home run now should be finished in a couple of weeks, will put more pics on as and when. Update on my escort, o/s/f wheel refurbed, suspension done, flitch repainted, just got to put bits back on car the strip the back, rear lower cosworth spoiler repaired reshaped and primered just waiting for paint. On the home run now, front panel now reshaped so grill now fits, os of car now back together, doors never fitted properly since he boght the car so took the opertunity while they were of to have the hinge plated machined down by 3mm allowing the door to move forward, so the doors now open and shut without taking paint off. screens back in and must admit really thought it was going to crack ( arsehole was twching ) due to screen posts had been fitted previously by a blind man so they had to be modified. Got to make some shitsheilds for under the arches next to try and keep the rain getting up into the wings, going to try and make them look like they have allways been there. http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25333.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25334.jpg Edited September 3, 2010 by ted

ted
Cheers mate, heres a couple of pictures with a bit more work done on the escort. O/S/Front suspension refitted, wheel refurbed, little bit more yellow under the bonnet lol, some nice shiney suspension tops fitted that Stoney kindley sent me (very nice gesture) I think he just didnt like the yellow ones lol, anyway iv got a day to spend on the car today so more updates later. http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25348.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25349.jpg Dont know if anyone noticed but i have painted the inner flitch and chassis rail under the bonnet while i was painting under the wheel arch, then decided to give the car a wash as i havnt done it since i bought it of Stoney, the car came up quit nice and has been well polished that well that most of the edges of doors, wings, inside doors, moldings, all rubbers, windows, and scuttle had about an eight of an inch of polish caked on to them so decided to leave stripping the rear beam out for another day and detail the body. before http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25385.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25386.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25387.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25388.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25389.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25390.jpg after http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25391.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25392.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25393.jpg have removed scuttle and tryed to remove all the paste, give up and decided to repaint it will upload pictures when its back on. cheers for looking Edited September 11, 2010 by ted
