I know a few people with that engine in Orion Ghia's that have had pretty good results from tweaking them. You can get manifolds, cams, all sorts. Seems 125bhp is possible without going totally nuts, so long as it's a healthy engine.

However, an RS Turbo conversion is probably a better value option if you're looking for a good power increase.

I know what your saying mate but havn't really got the money for an rs engine then fitting and all that stuff. So thought about just making mine abit quicker and doing it in bits. How much bhp would a cam add and a manifold. Am i okay with keeping the standard air filter or would i need to change it for induction kit?

i have a standard manifold and downpipe from a 1.6i EFI mk2 orion/mk4 escort these have larger ports and give a far better flow over the MFI parts if your interested

the right cam, exhaust, and induction kit with a tune up will make that very poky.

the cvh relies on a good working head and cam to make its power really so looking after them is the key to a good engine.

also the MFI needs a good working metering unit too so a good clean out of the fuel system should help.
