Right been having a problem with my mk6 zetec escort...

Went out to the car the other morning only just started and drove up the road and i started losing all electric power and running ruff air bag/engine management light coming on also going to cut out...thought it must be the alternator or battery so changed both of them checked all the earths and cleaned them, and also fitted a new alternator to starter cable..now all that`s been done it starts and runs until it gets warm, then the same things it goes to cut out all electrical power I.E dash-lights rev counter headlights and the air bag/engine management light comes on...etc..turn the car off and it won`t start leave it half an hour (cool down).and it starts again and the same process..I`m thinking that either the ignition coil pack is faulty or the crank-shaft senor..anyone else got any ideas..cheers in advanced

Cutting out, i would guess coil pack or leads or plugs..

Other then that you've got a electrical fault.

have checked all HT leads spark plugs changed crankshaft sensor changed coil-pack...just seems not to be charging but its all been checked thinking it could be the fuse-box have been told that they are quite prone for it...cheers for the replies

check blue wire at altenator for 12v with ignition on if no check connection at starter connecter is hard to get at but its on top of starter near terminal if 12v here then check red wires one goes to battery think other goes to fuse box check for corrosion and bad connections if all checks out then prob altenater fault :thumb:

Yer i had checked all that...have tried a different fuse-box no joy,but just been told by a technician that its more than likely the ignition switch as its working periodically try that see what happens..cheers
