dunketh
Mk4 estate you say?Is it a combi? No - it isnt!! LOL.Its the four door family-with-luggage mover. Less glamourous than Gordon Brown's sock drawer. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1267/4690300367_da781313c7.jpg Bought as a 1.4L with a dead engine. Sod knows what was wrong with it, I CBA to look, got her delivered on a trailer and fired in a 1300 HCS lump I had sat in a rotten mk4 Escort Eclipse (upgraded to 5 speed box too as a bonus).Me and another member (supersport) did the whole conversion over a weekend in the coldest, wettest weather south dorset's ever seen. Lying on your back doing up an exhaust when your head's an inch deep in water and your fingers are colder than a polar bear's nutsack is no fun!!! I specifically bought a 4 door estate as it has a lipless flat load area - and my dog has a dicky leg. I'm also the 'token' car owner amongst my misses family so rear doors are a must. That said, the cars an ideal base for modifying whilst not being a theif* or rozzer magnet. Trig
That looks pretty tidy, I'm loving the old school orange indicator lenses
dunketh
I'm an orange indi lover. They just look right on the old uns. Shes as tidy as she looks. No rust or dents or anything. On her second bonnet though - some tw@ <so he says whistling> left the last one on the latch and it opened at speed and caused brown trousers all round (mother in law was in the back so I got nagged from two directions for that one!) 1300 HCS lump leavs a lot to be desired. Sod knows how the mk5/6 boys cope with all the additonal 'eco' bits fitted and a heavier car to pull.

Nice mk4 there, not the biggest fan of them but at least its an estate so its rather interesting. Have fond memories of been carted around in them as a youngun

Not as cheap as you'd think though.Last year I was paying £140 all in- including HICs 'fees', insurance taxe etc..This year I'm paying about 190 - 200 ish, no change, just the insurance companys are a bunch of (whats the polar opposite of 'honest, decent bunch of fellows' )?
