the_big_man Posted February 11, 2012 Share Posted February 11, 2012 Hiya, Found out that the ecu i was going to use was the wrong one.basically i have a 1.6 Finesse 1998 and am going to fit a fiesta rs1800 engine, which ecu am i best using??have heard that 'cult' will require huge rewiring. i've got the red key to my car. will this program only my ecu or could i could use for example a mk2 mondeo 2.0 ecu and program that using my master key or does it not work like that?? please help engine is going in as soon as ecu issue is sorted!!! That way you can programme your existing keys in. If you can't get the red key, then get at least one black and get it cloned at an autolocksmith. Aparently the PATS recognition system is located near the lock not in the ecm. Not correct. The transceiver ring around the lock is just a radio transmitter/receiver. Codes from the key chips are stored in flash memory inside the ECU. If you get another ECU you either need to get one or more keys with it, or get it reprogrammed by an auto locksmith.
