eetaylog
How much of an issue is it? I was playing around with my intake boots this weekend and noticed how oily the inside of my inlet manifold is. I'm pretty sure it's an issue with my ccv or my oil recirculating hoses, which is fixable, but will the cr@p that's already in there do any damage to fuel preparation? Bmw e46 with an m54 engine btw. Stu
The CCV valves are prone to failure, but how many miles has the engine done and how oily are we talking? Is oil literally running out or the manifold/pipes?
eetaylog
yeah, ive always suspected that my ccv might be goosed as my engine drinks oil for fun. Its done 140k now but the amount of oil in the inlet isnt too bad at the moment, just looks a bit greasy and gritty: Looking into the inlet manifold http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo100/eetaylog/20121118_113256.jpg DISA valve http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo100/eetaylog/20121118_113316.jpg Edited November 19, 2012 by eetaylog
sidrick
I wouldn't worry about a bit of oil, but there certainly shouldn't be any grit in your intake I'd have that manifold off and clean it.

Stu
I propose you drive a bit harder in future and get your oil temps up a bit!
