Ahmotorsport
As said. One of the best things you can do for it is to keep everything clean.
Orionzetec
Which clearances are they? Head and block staying together as don't see any need to split them.
Stu
Then you might as well just lob it in the car and hope for the best. Looking at it sitting on the bench ain't going to tell you anything.
Ahmotorsport
So it's not stripped?
Stu
I think he meant he's stripped the ancillaries off it. Should have left them on!!!
Orionzetec
What I meant was its just the block and the head together. No sump, rocker, manifolds, pumps etc. They've all got to come off anyway so not sure why I should of just left them?!?I'll just carry on.Mods pls delete post

etrebus
I don't know, that's why I asked. If there's nothing I can check then I'll just continue. Thanks, now I know I'll plod oni take it this is a mondy engine which you intend to fit in your escort ,do you know the engine is good ?if you are planning to keep the car then would be worth taking the head off and checking it over valves /stem seals and a check for bore wear ,you could also drop off the main/big end caps and inspect them ,or you could just bolt on the conversion bits and cross your fingers your choice
Orionzetec
Cheers etrebus - think ill just bolt the conversion bits on and hope all is well. Its the final push for the escort as i really need to get a better car as been in escorts for 10+yearsIll prob have to get the head skimmed and get a new head set if the head does come off. Theres another £100 gone just to look it over Edited January 31, 2013 by Orionzetec
