daveyroo
Hi, I'm about to sell my car and use the money to fix up this old escort we've had since 1994. But there are a few things wrong with it and I'm not sure what the problems might be, so any help would be greatly appreciated! In case it helps identify problems, it's a 1.8l Si 1994 cabriolet (from memory) Firstly, the battery keeps draining, but I think this is because the glove box is broken, it keeps falling open and on the inside it says if the glove box is left open the battery will drain. Secondly, 5th gear keeps popping out, I have no idea what this could be would it require a new gear box? It's okay if you drive along holding the stick in gear. I'm sure there is something else but I just can't remember at the moment! Thanks for any help
daveyroo
Oh the last thing is that the headlights only work on sidelights or full beam, there is no dipped beam, but it's nothing to do with the bulbs so I was thinking might be a bad earth? GingeRS2K
Get a new glovebox. Selector rod may need adjusting, if not. The synchromesh may have gone on 5th. You selling your daily to put this back on the road? Can't do it as a sideline project until it back on the road running 100%
Escort Si-130
As above, your headlight/indicator stalk switch is gone, Hence why your dipped beam is gone. Need a replacement of those. For the 5th gear, best to try and adjust it and see if it works ok.
