pidge1969
Hi I have just bought an Escort Van 2002 but the heater does not work - the heater blower is ok but it will only blow out cold air.Could this be the heater matrix? If so are they hard to fix? Has anyone done this before and could anyone advise? The thermostat is ok i think as the van gets up to normal temp on the guage.Any help would be really appreciated as clearing the screen is not possible.CheersMark

pidge1969
Not sure on what the coolant looks like the van has done 148k miles so could be a well used heaterCan the matrix be unblocked?
SLEEMAN
If you use radiator flush it can usually clear it out but then you change your coolant and it may not work again. But the chances are 50/50 on that. If you have a wet carpet or coolant loss then probably is the heater matrix
cherrybeard
First things first, are the inlet and outlet pipes to the matrix getting hot?
pidge1969
One on the hoses going into the matrix(felt from within the engine bay) is hot the other one seems very luke warm/cold, should they both be hot?Mark

pidge1969
Thanks for the advice would a normal rad flush of the whole system do, or should i do that first then do the matrix flush?Mark
SLEEMAN
yeah normal rad flush does the whole system as the matrix is connected to it all. just leave it in as stated. the last rad flush i used said to leave it in for around 48 hours of driving so basically around a week ish.
