luke83g
Hi – I went to start the Escort this morning for work and the car wont start – engine is not turning or even attempting to. The car makes a clicking sound when you try to crank the engine and the speedo shoots up to 140MPH! Are we thinking battery fault or possibly starter? Or something else?? Get home at 5.30 tonight and need to go straight to college in the car so desperate for tips ! Thanks Luke

luke83g
Think mine was the original as Ive never replaced it and its a proper Ford one with a 1999 charge date (year car was registered). Fortunately its not sealed so I'm going to try and coax it back to life after topping up the water. Not I'm still on original tyres and exhaust 14 years later... Tyres are gonna go soon once I've paid and fitted the new clutch! Tyres walls are showing signs of age but tread is still there.
JC
If they are the original tyres i'd get them replaced, i bet the side walls are starting to perish!
