Help and advice on aMk3 estate

Hiya all. Im after some advice as i really dont know what to do.

Ive got sat in my dads garage 200 miles from me in dorset, a mk3 sep 1983 escort 4 door estate. this is the very very basic model with one door mirror only, no radio, no boot carpet ect. the car has covered just 40k miles, its one of the very early 1.3 cvh engines. its been garaged all its life and would say with a wash and polish would come up a very nice show car.

the car belonged to my late uncle who bought the car brand new, every receipt ever spent is present ect ect. the problem i have its that its not been started in 4 years so will need a little tlc as the clutch is stuck plus maybe other bits due to being laid up.

my question is, what kind of value has this car got? im thinking maybe of selling it, maybe as it is, or may spend money and mot it.

i see this car as being quite rare in its condition as many collect the higher spec cars but not many have interest in the lower end of the market and are possibly fewer around.

im almost tempted to keep it and use it to give my transit a rest from the 30k miles a year, but that means the car wont sta mint and low miles for very long so imin a pickle with it.

sorry ive no pics but looking for a breif guide of its value as i really have no clue if its worth £100 or £1500.

thanks in advance for your help

Where abouts in dorset. There are a few of us ii the bournemouth area. Sure one of us would take a look at it for u

have you a very rough guide on a price on what i could be worth? i know whitout seeing it then it would be quite hard but looking for an idea. the car is based on portland. i also forgot to say the car is a red colour, not rosso red, the ore orangy shade if that makes any difference

so its terracotta colour

its probably worth about £500 as it stands but with MOT it could be worth £1500 upwards

it would be a better investment to get it on the road and use it as a show/weekend car becuase the majority of people that would buy it would RST it or zetec it ane eventually there will be hardly any standard escorts left

ty very much for the info, thats the info i was looking for, my problem if i decide to keep the car would be that i would use it as i travel a lot of miles and use a quite uneconomical transit.

it would be nice to keep it standard as there cant be many of these base models left and certainly not that many as original as this. i may just get it sorted and m.o.t it and go from there, my dad has it in its garage and i know he want to get it gone so ill take long weekend somepoint soon and get it back roadworthy.
