luke83g
Hi Guys, just wanted a bit of advice regarding the Escort tbh. I've run Mk6 Escorts for 7/8 years now and currently run a 61k W reg Finesse in Pepper Red. I've done the usual door lights, proper Ford mats, new Dunlop tyres all round, CD mutlichanger, softline(?) alloys, half leather interior with electric drivers seat, footwell lights, been waxoyled etc etc. The car has also had a recent clutch and has been well maintained throughout its life and runs well but Im Kinda thinking about having a change and I really don't know whether to sell the Escort or whether to lay it off the road for a few years and then get back into them or just snap out of my current mind set! If I was to park it off the road I have a empty dry lockup but what precautions should I do to the car before laying it up? Should it be on axel stands instead of sitting on the tyres, should I change the oil and antifreeze beforehand etc?? I know in 5 - 10 years I will not be able to find another like it (prob. hard work now) so Im thinking hold onto it and enjoy later. Any suggestions?? scottybo
Taking it off the wheels will save the tyres. Only real thing is to make sure the car has some ventilation otherwise mould will start to grow. If its gna be dry stored just keep it clean and it should last forever. Batterys will last longer if theyre disconnected
sidrick
You don't gain enthusiasm for a car by not driving it. It'd probably sit, get rusty and after a while you wouldn't want to spend the money to get it back on the road. Sell it to someone who will enjoy it and buy something you'll be happy with
tomsy
I wouldn't sell it sounds like you've put a lot into the car that your unlikely to get back,so store it as Scott said wheels off I would run the engine every week or so and on a nice day get it out and give it a good airing. luke83g
good advice thanks - decided to keep the Escort as I know I would eventually regret selling her! Did a major service and good clean / polish ready to lay up for a while. Will still keep coming on here from time to time - I know I would be able to resist! Cheers Guys
