Some theiving gypsy broke into my car on saturday and nicked my stereo.

Must admit that they made a good job though, hardly any damage apart from a missing lock on the passenger side.

What I was wanting to know is this. The central locking still works fine, is it worth replacing the lock or getting it delocked and smothed over.

Any idea on the cost??

Cheers

depends, what do you mean the c-locking still works ok, through the other lock or by remote? which lock was popped? if it was passenger side then it would look ok having just the one side smoothed for now but there aint much point in smoothing just the drivers side especially if its no remote central locking :thumb:

Its the passenger lock thats missing mate.

The C/L works fine through the drivers side and its not remote.

Any idea on the cost for delocking or replacement lock?

my otherhalf had the same problem! someone got into it before we had it and there was a hole where the lock used to be!! ;( the place that did my bonnet said they would plate and fill it for £20!! :D so that's what we did!! :))

rachy's £20 is a fcuking awesome price but would be no more than £50 :thumb:

id go for it m8y, get the passenger side smoothed and later on get an alarm with RCL and delock tuther one :thumb:

it would defonately be more than £50 unless u knew somebody at the body shop. i was quoted £120 each side at a body shop and i knew the guy (The same one who sprayed my bumper for £50 so he is cheap and top quality work)

although i have now been quoted £150 for both front doors to be delocked and the doors completely re-sprayed from another guy i found out my dad's mate knows who is at the moment repairing my skirts and painting them fort he measly sum of £40.......bargain

Suppose it wont be cheap to get a replacement lock, so looks like de-locking it is.

At least I can look forward to getting a new head unit, just wish I didnt have my fave cd in the old one.

Cheers for the help.

At the end of the day it could have been a lot worse. Not too much damage and I had about 30 cd's in the glove box and a pair of jeans on the back seat that I'd just bought, and they left them behind???

Guese my taste in music and clothing wasn't to their liking.

When they broek into my escort outside of Rileys In Middlesbrough they didnt take anything, Just took the lock out wiht a screwdriver went thru everything. But didnt take anythnig een the money in the dash compartmwnt lol. Part exed the car just after cos i wasnt gonig to get the damage fixed.

Im worried abot my next escort though my headunit isnt a face off one, its a motorised Sony Xplod, if the face is removable id liek to know how lol. No dobt it will get stolen. I had a sign in the escort window at one point, saying nothnig of value is left in the car, Bt if yo want to look please break the window.......

Cos its easier to repalce some glass than a door lock lol.
