Bobuk69
Hi guys, I've just popped down my local garage and had a chat with the guy their that does their body work and he quoted me about 400 to spray and fit the skirts I bought from esp design for my 5door. That strikes me as being quite a fair whack for the job. So my question is in two bits: Is it too much? If I have a go at fitting them myself and him just painting them, is it difficult?? Thanks guys
marcus
£400 tell him to Fcuk off.......i paid £40 to get mine resprayed and reapired as they were damaged in 3 places, it was off a mate but i can get urs sprayed if u like??? then u get some 'tiger body sealent' (I got a tube for £10 and still have half left after i fitted mi spats and skirts) and put a line of it in the top, bottom and edges of the skirt to make it waterproof then place in then car and use about 15 self tappers on the skirt, underneath and on top where the holes are and voilla
Bobuk69
i thought it was a bit much like...he seems like he'll do a proper good job, I talkedf to him for quite a while, but yeah..£400! I've got some Sikaflex off esp design too for the glue so I'm sorted their! What other prices/experiences have people had?
marcus
well, i have never used this guy before and it was the best job and cheaper than my other 3 sprayage contacts, the guy who sprayed matts front bumper charged £70 or £80 (Cant remember) and that was for prepping it as well and it was a mint job, he sprayed my bumper for £50 as it was new and no prep was required, he quoted me £50 for the skirts if they ewre new and £70 if they needed prepping, my other guy quoted me £50 including prep work, all 3 of them spray things and the finish is like glass, its mint its not always 'pay for what u get' cos i get stuff dead cheap and the quality is A1, i think its more or 'who you know'. again, if u want mate, i can get then done for ya if £400 is the cheapest you can get it done Also, Sikaflex is crap, i had mi spats on with this at first and it lets water in and doesnt get in the corners and u dont waht that, especially with skirts or ull get rusty sills and it is a weak point in escorts anyway
Bobuk69
Thats cool marcus would love that but how can I get them to you and when and how fast can they be done, lol, lot of questions there but you know. Be absolutly quality for that kind of price. Shame about the skiaflex stuff, wouldn't have bought it if I knew.

Bobuk69
your car looks the b*llocks mate liking that. Next day is good because i'm on a small time frame. I slo might glue the spats onto a bumper i might get a hold off and if he could paint that too it would be diamond. Cheers mate
Ex-Finesse
Shouldn't have any probs with sycaflex! Bead around the outside, then use your finger to make it neat and seal properly. at 15 self tappers! I think I've got 2 rivets per skirt and 1 or 2 on each arch
