rachyxx Posted September 20, 2004 Share Posted September 20, 2004 i'm bored and so many questions about it, so i'm gonna do the story of the red car!! and it's a long story!! i decided to go a bit mad with it cos i need to get rid of the red, hate red!! that was the start, so with some help with young jonny on photoshop i had designed the car before i fetched it!! some of you know bits, and the only person to see it in the 3 days it was actually being done was dirty escort (pete) ask him the state of my house, my drive and the car!!! was spraying in the bathroom and kitchen and sanding in the living room!! not good!! the hall was full of car bits, that you fell over when you walked in!! so, i bought the car as standard with a lower cossie spoiler and rs brakes, what more can i say!! i then stripped it and revamped it abit the day after i had it cos i didn't like it standard!! rachyxx Posted September 20, 2004 Author Share Posted September 20, 2004 it stayed like that for a week, while i gathered bits i needed, it then started, i bought a white bonnet from the scrap yard and sprayed it!!!i got hold of some skirts from chappers that had been in a smash, they were in a bad way, so rebuilt them!!! they were hard work!!the skirts did take more than 3 days to mend!! but next was the sides of the car, spoiler and petrol cap!!at this time only one side of the car was done, but i put the wing mirrors on to see what it would look like!! the bonnet was put on!! but the arrow i had sprayed i wasn't happy with, needed more of an angle, so i resprayed it again!! rachyxx Posted September 20, 2004 Author Share Posted September 20, 2004 the arrow still didn't work so i went to a graphics place near me, spent 2 hours tring to get everything right!! then when i did get home they were wrong!!! the red arrow was too long and the white one too short so had to change things slightly because the white was meant to run from the spoiler and it wasn't long enoth!! so i redesigned it again!! by this time i am spraying the skirts, then some picks up the can and has ago and ruins the one skirt!! so have to strip it and start again!! the problem being i couldn't put the graphics on till the skirts were on!! got there late afternoon!! i had some nasty multi spoke wheels but the tyres were ace on them so i got hold of some special spray and refurbed them abit!! late the night i put the graphics on one side we decided to put the one wheel, that was finished, on to see what it looked like!!just before it got dark and before it came down of the jack the exhuast went on!!so i had one side of the car done!! the bumpers hadn't been started and trax was 2 days away!! rachyxx Posted September 20, 2004 Author Share Posted September 20, 2004 (edited) me and kev started the bumpers that night!! i didn't want the chrome trim on the back bumper, so had taken it off and filled it, several time!! i hate sanding so kev offered to do it while i started spraying the bumper, (cheers dave w) which was red and took alot of prep work!!! the next day (friday) the bumpers were finished and put on, after finding out the front bumper wasn't an escort bumper!! bit of modding and it went on!! the other side of the car had it's graphics on and the wheels were finished and put on!!then pete came over and he had red tinted rear lights so i swapped them over!! cheers pete!! and there you have it!! with alot of work and help from a few people to get it sorted it was done!! thanks to pete, dave w, chappers, jonny, cyrix and alan!! just need to sort the interior out over the next couple of weeks, buckets seats and a rollcage coming!! and a new back bumper when i get the spats of matt!! and it needs a www.escortevolution.co.uk sticker in the back window!!
