jim16v
i have had a rattle coming from my cat for a while now, today i took a friend's advice and removed the cat and beat the insides out, then put the thing back on again, my exhaust sounded beefy as hell for about a minute but as soon as i took it for a spin it was really juddery, could this be because the gasket i put back on when re-connecting was a bit shagged????? i am replacing this tomorrow but i am curious to find the cure for this problem, my cat didn't put up much of a fight, but i'm due an mot and cat change in a couple weeks so this is only temporary if not are there any reasons why 1600 escort should judder at low to medium revs but break out of it when you scream the pants off???? all help muchly appreciated sorry for gabbing on chaps :)

jim16v
yup, well at least it did, i didn't actually beat it hard, only gave it a few taps, when i looked inide the filter stuff within had broken into about 6 or 7 lumps and was blocking the pipe up and causing the rattle, now it doesn't rattle any more but i'm still getting this juddery misfire until it gets to high rpm
